Frequently asked questions about exams
How can I book my exam?
Firstly, you must be a current student member to enter for CIPS exams. Once you've joined, take a look at our exam schedule to stay up-to-date with the upcoming exams. If you'd like to learn more about how to book your exams, we have some useful information here that will walk you through the process.
I have booked the wrong module and/or date by mistake. How can I change this?
You will need to go to your MyCIPS dashboard and find your exam in My exams and results and cancel the wrong booking. You will need to request a refund, and you will then be able to book again. Please however, make sure you check you are within the cancellations deadlines.
How do I cancel my exams?
To cancel your exam, please log in to your MyCIPS dashboard and locate your exam under My exams and Results. From there, you can cancel your exam booking.
When cancelling your exam, please ensure you are within the deadlines. A member of our team will review your refund request within two working days.
How do I cancel my exams outside of the booking window?
We're only able to accept cancellations outside of the booking window based on medical reasons, and we may need formal evidence such as a doctor’s note. You can find more information about authorised cancellations on our policies page.
How do I apply for a reasonable adjustment or special consideration?
We have a responsibility to ensure all candidates have equal opportunities to reach their full potential. In some instances, candidates may require adjustments to the assessment process. Applications should be submitted to us before the exam entry closure date of the assessment. You can find more here. To apply for a reasonable adjustment, the application form can be located in your MyCIPS area under My Requests and Applications within ‘Exam Related Applications.'
Candidates may apply for special consideration in instances that could not possibly be predicted. Applications must be made within 2 days of the date of the exam or assessment and please be aware that the release of your results may be delayed by up to two weeks from the published results date. This also applies to candidates wishing to report any incident which may have affected their examination or assessment performance. You can find out more here. You can submit your application by heading to your MyCIPS area and My Requests and Applications within ‘Exam Related Applications’.
When will my exam results be released?
You'll be able to find the exam results release date by viewing our timetable here. Exam results will be available in your MyCIPS dashboard once they have been released.
Please be aware that the release of your OR results will be delayed by two weeks from the published results date shown on the CIPS Exam Schedule if you have applied for Special Consideration and if you are registered with a Study Centre, we will copy them into the confirmation email to assist with support and awareness of any delay to the results release.
If I am not happy with my exam result, can I request a review?
If you're unhappy with the outcome of your Constructed Response (CR) exam, you may be able to request for a review. We are not able to provide a review for any Objective Response (OR) exams as these are marked by computer and then moderated by CIPS examiners. You can find out more here.
