What is the CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme?
CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme is the only independent, comprehensive, procurement specific assessment of its kind, that measures your procurement function against our world class standards.
It is a globally recognised award that demonstrates how well your function is performing whilst building a competitive edge and driving world class service delivery. Acting as a catalyst for transformational change to help you achieve sustainable value, supporting you when rising to new challenges and keeps on driving improvement.

How the Procurement Excellence Programme works
A detailed examination of your organisation’s procurement and supply function will highlight what improvements and opportunities can be made. It will help to ensure that procurement becomes an essential value driver and organisational influencer.
The Procurement Excellence Programme is split into two levels. The Standard programme is about what you do, the Advanced programme is about how well you do it. There are three levels of the Advanced award depending on the maturity of the organisation, these are Silver, Gold and Platinum. They signify how your procurement function is building increasing levels of influence, involvement and control in order to accelerate procurement performance and change, and deliver greater value.
The programme steps
1. Meet your assessor
You will be assigned your own CIPS assessor; a highly-experienced procurement professional who will personally guide you through the process.
2. Collect evidence
Assessors support you to collate evidence demonstrating performance against five dimensions of our world-class standards, common to every business.
3. Gain an award
This evidence is submitted to the CIPS Awarding Body to verify the level that has been achieved. Success leads to an award valid for two years.

Standard
Procurement has demonstrated robust, effective governance is in place for supply assurance and compliance.
Advanced Standard
There are three levels of the Advanced award depending on the maturity of the organisation:
Silver
Procurement has demonstrated it is moving from being an operational to a managerial function, building performance, capability and value.
Gold
Procurement has demonstrated it has a strategic role within the organisation with the ability to influence senior management and other business functions, and it is becoming more fundamental to the organisation.
Platinum
Procurement demonstrated it is part of the lifeblood of their organisation, potentially with a seat on the Board. Procurement is integral to their organisation's strategy, is a core influencer and decision maker.
