“I want to take a moment during Volunteers' Week to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible volunteers around the world. Your outstanding commitment and tireless contributions go far beyond supporting CIPS. You are advancing the procurement and supply chain profession, strengthening communities, and shaping a more resilient and sustainable global ecosystem. Whether you're mentoring the next generation, driving thought leadership, supporting local branches, or leading transformational initiatives your efforts are the heartbeat of our global network. Thank you for embodying the true spirit of professionalism, collaboration, and purpose. Together, we are creating lasting impact and setting new standards for our profession worldwide.”

“I volunteer with CIPS to help raise the profile of the supply chain profession in Africa. By being a congress member, I form a two day communication channel between CIPS and student members. I know the needs of the African CIPS students. Therefore I am sure that being part of the volunteer community, I can help to influence the CIPS agenda to discuss and cater for the unique needs of the students in Africa. I also want to later look back at the satisfaction of the job I will have done, both for myself and for the supply chain profession across Africa, by helping formulate strategies and moulding the future of both the students and the profession in Africa.”

Our volunteers got involved, because...

  • 86% say they volunteer to promote our profession
  • 78% say they volunteer to support and inspire others
  • 60% say they volunteer to build their professional network

“As a branch volunteer and chair for several years I’ve enjoyed working with CIPS and supporting members in our area, be it with advice on study routes, local employers and vacancies, or best practice in their day jobs. The events bring us all together, and we need more of that post-pandemic. I’m glad to be attending CIPS Futures because a lot of events these days are skewed towards sponsor or exhibitor content, but this event goes to the heart of procurement and aims to provide future insight across many areas, including careers. I’ll be networking with other procurement leaders and taking the learnings back to the branch and my colleagues at Procure4.”

The impact of volunteering on organisations

When celebrating our individual volunteers, it is important to recognise the organisations they are part of. Elli Durante FCIPS Chartered is a valued CIPS volunteer, and the Senior Supplier Manager at Coventry Building Society. Hear from Claire Webber, Procurement Director, on why volunteering is important at Coventry Building Society.
