What is in the Procurement Analyst job description?
A Procurement Analyst is a central part of the procurement department, and you’ll liaise with key stakeholders to ensure purchasing requirements are understood and comply with internal governance and procurement policies.
What will be your responsibilities?
A Procurement Analyst responsibilities broadly consist of the following things:
- Lead commercial negotiations and facilitate contractual negotiations, for both new requirements as well as contract renewals.
- Manage and ensure all required due diligence checks are carried out on all new suppliers.
- Supporting the leadership team to deliver continued strategic solutions.
- Responsible for the end-to-end procurement within respective categories
- Accountable for driving commercial value and exercising best practice
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and develop relationships both internally and externally to drive value-add engagements
- Commercially astute and able to lead negotiations across categories (HR, Legal, Facilities).

What qualifications do you need?
If you’re looking to move into a Procurement Analyst role, you’ll need the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience of cross-categories (HR, Legal, FM) procurement experience, ideally within financial services.
- Ideally operating at a buyer/senior-buyer level.
- Experience of managing end–to-end procurement using ordering solutions/systems.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to deliver successful negotiations results and contract tendering.
- Strong commercial awareness.
To start your journey to become a Procurement Consultant, the ideal starting point is the Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply. Once complete, move on to Level 5 and Level 6 qualifications that will take you all the way to MCIPS.
