The programme has been recognised in the Excellence in the Design of Learning Content – Commercial Sector category, following the submission Transforming Procurement Education: The CIPS OnDemand Approach, developed by CIPS in partnership with Kaplan.

The awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the use of learning technologies and recognise organisations that are helping to shape the future of learning.

For CIPS, the recognition reflects our continued focus on making professional development more accessible, engaging and relevant to the needs of procurement professionals around the world.

A different approach to digital learning

CIPS OnDemand was created to give learners the flexibility of online study without losing the structure and support that can make traditional learning so effective.

The programme combines guided learning with the freedom to study when and where it suits, helping professionals fit their CIPS qualification around busy working lives.

The learning experience is built around a number of evidence-based principles, including bite-sized content, interactive knowledge checks, practical assessments and digital workbooks.

Instead of simply presenting learners with large amounts of information to absorb, CIPS OnDemand breaks complex procurement topics into manageable steps and encourages learners to apply what they have learned to real-world situations.

The programme also incorporates short, focused instructional videos and interactive activities, alongside practice assessments designed to mirror the experience of the CIPS computer-based exams.

Together, these features are designed to help learners build both their knowledge and confidence as they progress towards their qualification.

Putting learners at the centre

The results so far demonstrate the impact of this approach.

CIPS OnDemand has achieved an 89% overall pass rate across 1,403 exams, including an 89% pass rate for the Level 4 Diploma and a 98% pass rate for the Level 5 Advanced Diploma. OnDemand learners  also outperformed the CIPS global average pass rate by an average of 20 percentage points (Average across comparable L4 modules March-Sep 24).

Learner experiences also highlight the value of CIPS OnDemand's flexible approach. Simon Page, who is studying towards his CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma, explains: “I found the online material easy to navigate and easy to follow. It also gives the ability to pause and re-start in your own time.”

Being shortlisted for the Learning Technologies Award is an exciting recognition of the work that has gone into developing CIPS OnDemand, as well as the shared ambition of CIPS and Kaplan to create more engaging and accessible ways for procurement professionals to learn, develop their skills and progress their careers.
