CIPS Foundation charity partner Size of Wales launches
CIPS Foundation has funded climate change charity Size of Wales on their mission to promote deforestation-free procurement in Wales. The learnings, relevant to both public and private sector organisations across the world, help procurement professionals to make more informed decisions about the impact of food contracts.
Focusing on upskilling procurement and supply chain professionals working for Welsh public bodies and businesses in sustainable practices, the project raises awareness of the impact of imported products such as palm oil, beef from South America, coffee, cacao and those with embedded soy on tropical deforestation and the associated human rights violations.
The charity has launched a second toolkit to help public sector buyers create an action plan for change and working with suppliers to become Deforestation Free Business Champions.
Launched on 15 July the Deforestation Free Public Procurement Toolkit provides:
- A deforestation free charter and action plan to embed in your organisations
- A forest-risk commodity audit template to help establish your baseline risk score and where you should focus your efforts.
- Useful questions to ask your suppliers on the measures they are taking in their supply chains
- And inspirational deforestation-free case studies.
